Mother Earth grows beautiful things, and one of those things is crystals. I know the pleasure in fossicking for crystals yourself. I live on Yuggera land, the land I live on, was once a place for Yuggera to collect food, as I back into the sea, and the bush holds a bounty of food and medicines.
I have been blessed in my lifetime to be taught on country, do's and do nots when on country. Not all crystals are to be ours, when presented in front of us. I have been places that there are crystals scattered everywhere, but not allowed to touch any of them, because of what they are used for. This has to do with old law of the tribe who is land you are standing on.
There is also Man's and Woman's places, where things should not be taken from. Taking things from these places, is like a curse. Bringing bad luck. My Tida use to return stones to a woman's place, because they were posted back to community, because the person was having such bad luck since taking them. Yes, you have to believe in this, and I do. I have seen enough over the years to know better.
In Australia there are massacre places, where Aboriginals were slaughtered, for reasons that were wrong. These sites carry a sad energy for me. For me, we should not take from these places. Respect for the Spirit that resides there.
Even in my own country, and in my own culture. Only local Iwi are allowed to harvest Greenstone, in the areas it is found. We have Tapu (cursed), it is not everyone's to go help themselves. We even have various parts of our country that is Tapu, which means we cannot walk in there, harvest from there or take things from there.
Many cultures around the world have similar beliefs. Respect for culture and land is huge. It is also about sitting in heart.
This is what I do when on country, whether it be crystal fossicking or harvesting medicines or even doing this in my everyday work. I honour the Mob(tribe), example " I honour the traditional owners of this land, Yuggera, past and present and give thanks to be present on their land doing the work I am doing, Aho" (insert the mob of the area you are in, check Uncle Google for tribe maps if unsure or there is an app called Welcome to Country). Also feel into the land deeply, if something feels off or not right, leave. If you find a crystal you want, feel into deeply, ask the land if you can have it. Watch for the feeling weather you are allowed or not. Sometimes it is enough to just hold the crystal, do a meditation with it, where you found it, and put it back where you found it. The Deva's or beings of the crystals will gift you their knowledge, and that is enough.
Also, you sometimes need a permit from local council to fossick, always check.
Respect for land, Respect for culture is huge for me. Take from this what you want. It all comes down to how we walk on Mother Earth, and what is in our hearts.
For Wendy and I, we are doing allot of research, before we buy from a new supplier. We want to be ethically sourcing and supporting the villages around the world we are working with. We have built lovely relationships with who we are working with. Sitting in heart with what we do.
